UNKNOXING

none have i corrupted, none defrauded;
merchandise have i not made
. i've spurned,
to glimmer in his heaven, all things sordid
lest (his saints forbid!) i should have burned.

  1. the quote, "None have I corrupted, none have I defrauded; merchandise have I not made," is a moribund John Knox (scottish protestant reformer and original 'presbuteros') recommending himself to posterity and presumably to the maker he assumes he is shortly to meet.
